Washington Redskins Rumors: DeSean Jackson Seeks Darrelle Revis Battle Week 6, Alfred Morris, Matt Jones Struggle as Kirk Cousins Pushes Jamison Crowder, Pierre Garcon

The Washington Redskins continue to wait for the return of DeSean Jackson which could be coming sooner rather than later. The wide receiver continues to sit out with a hamstring injury while he works back into practice. The Redskins were hoping to have the leading wide receiver back for the game against the Atlanta Falcons, but that failed to happen and now Jackson is eyeing a return against the New York Jets in order to battle Darrelle Revis.

Jackson might have returned to the practice field last week, but he remained inactive for the Redskins in Week 5. However, Week 6 might be when he finally gets back to the field as the Redskins prepare to face the Jets. Head coach Jay Gruden told the media that Jackson was ramping up his work load and now fans might finally be able to see him on the field after getting hurt in Week 1. Jackson could be looking for a battle with Revis after preseason comments targeted at the cornerback.

"I don't think no one can guard me," Jackson said, via the New York Daily News. "It's how I feel about myself. I don't feel no one can stop me. You can get Darrelle Revis, Richard Sherman - whoever you want to get."

It is no secret that the Redskins are missing Jackson. The offense cannot seem to find consistency right now while Kirk Cousins matches a good pass with a bad one each game. Jamison Crowder and Pierre Garcon are trying to make up for the absence of the receiver while Jordan Reed's injury is not helping either. The biggest issue for Washington right now might be the disappearance of their run game. Against the Falcons, five players combined for just 51 yards on the ground. Matt Jones had 20 yards off 11 carries while Alfred Morris had just 15 yards off eight carries. While the lack of touches for Morris is concerning, the lack of a run game altogether is the biggest concern.

"I know that our blocking in the running game was not up to our standards," Gruden said, via the Washington Post. "It wasn't winning football for us and we have to do better. Our line knows that, our tight ends know that, our fullback - if he was in the game - knows that and our backs know that."

The Redskins are preparing to face a very tough defensive front against the New York Jets which could mean another long day for Morris and Jones. That will put the pressure on Cousins who has to hope Jackson is back on the field and healthy.
