New England Patriots
Tom Brady (Quarterback): Brady had an excellent game this week completing 20 of 27 passes for 275 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brady was getting pressured early on in the game until the Cowboys offense forced their defense to be on the field for too long that is when the big plays started to happen. Brady should continue his destruction tour in week 6 against the Colts.
Rob Gronkowski (Tight End): Gronkowski was shut down all game long by Byron Jones. It excellent coverage that kept the monster at bay however Gronk was seen throwing defenders for a couple of yards every time he had the ball. Gronk finished the day catching 4 out of 5 targets for 67 yards.
Dion Lewis/LeGarrette Blount (Running Backs): Lewis made his presence known mostly in the air. It was interesting to see how the Patriots would use Lewis however using him as a primary passing weapon makes sense. Lewis caught 8 of 11 targets for 59 yards and a touchdown while only carrying the ball 6 times for 34 yards. LeGarrette Blount had clean up duty as he racked up 74 yards on 13 carries towards the end of the game.
Julian Edelman (Wide Receiver): Edelman had a pretty decent day when it was all said and done. Edelman hauled in 120 yards on 4 out of 5 targets. One of those targets was a massive 59 yard touchdown that just took the air right out of the Cowboys.
Dallas Cowboys
Terrance Williams/Cole Beasley (Wide Receivers): Williams and Beasley have kind of faded away since Romo left. Sure Weeden has occasionally connected with Beasley but in reality their numbers are not that impressive. Beasley finished the day catching 4 out of 6 targets for 40 yards while Williams caught 2 out of 6 targets for 30 yards.
Jason Witten (Tight End): Witten had another average day. He finished the game catching 5 balls for 33 yards. Witten also had an untimely fumble in the fourth quarter to help seal the Cowboys fate. Witten should continue to be a middle of the road tight end option while Romo and Bryant are out.
Joseph Randle/ Darren McFadden (Running Back): McFadden was the slightly more effective back in this blow out game but neither really turned heads. McFadden ended his day catching 9 out of 10 targets for 62 yards while only rushing for 16 yards on 5 carries. Randle was the opposite he had 15 carries for 60 yards and 4 receptions for 13 yards. McFadden is taking Lance Dunbar's role in the passing game however they may need to go with a speedier guy, however the important note is that McFadden did catch almost all of his targets.
