The Minnesota Vikings are trying to keep a balanced offense while Adrian Peterson continues to thrive in his return this season. However, injuries have made that tough to get doing as several of their top threats continue to miss practices and game time. The Vikings have been dealing with issues to Mike Wallace, Charles Johnson and Jarius Wright, but all three players are expected to be healthy come Week 6 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Wallace was the latest Vikings player to miss practice as the receiver was dealing with a reported sore knee. However, according to Ben Goessling of ESPN.com, Wallace is guaranteeing that he plays against the Chiefs along with Johnson and Wright. All three players have been active in practice as the Vikings need them in order to get a win against the struggling Chiefs team. In their place, Stefon Diggs has been thriving as an underrated option for Teddy Bridgewater. Wallace expects that to continue regardless of who is healthy and who is not.
"Honestly, I felt like that the whole time since I've been here: We have some underrated guys that can play," Wallace said, via ESPN.com. "I feel comfortable they'd make just about any team in the league. The guys who aren't playing, you've just got to cheer them on. All six of us, I feel like every one of us can play football on any team in the NFL."
The Vikings will need everyone playing their best as they expect Bridgewater to be under pressure for most of the game. The Chiefs love to pressure the quarterback and they have the talent to be successful at it. Bridgewater has not played well under pressure this season as he will rely heavily on the offensive line to keep him upright. The Denver Broncos defense really stretched the line two weeks ago as both Peterson and Kyle Rudolph struggled to pass protect. Bridgewater placed the blame on himself.
"We caused that upon ourselves," Bridgewater said, via ESPN.com. "We blew some assignments. "When we were going, things were going good for us. We were just shooting ourselves in the foot. I was sacked seven times. You don't want to get hit that many times. But our guys work extremely hard. Every since training camp, those guys have just been grinding away. We have a great group of guys in that room."
If that happens again, Bridgewater and company are in for a long day in Week 6. The Vikings have a long history of losing their first game out of a bye week and ideally they would like to break that against a Kansas City team who has one win on the year.
