The Dallas Cowboys are officially going in a different with their quarterback situation. The Cowboys have benched Brandon Weeden in favor of Matt Cassel.
Cassel has a better track record than Weeden who has yet to prove himself as an effective starter in the NFL. Weeden has had only one season were he threw more touchdowns than interceptions and that just will not cut it in the NFL, especially a team like the Dallas Cowboys. Cassel has been to the Pro Bowl in 2010 and has had back to back 400 yard games.
Cassel also has thrown 96 touchdowns to his 70 interceptions and holds a passer rating of 80.1. Make no mistake Cassel can win and is a very experienced veteran who is used to leading struggling football teams. Just the hope the Cowboys locker room should feel from having a new face under center should be worth the risk in starting a quarterback who is just entering their system.
Cassel has two weeks to figure out the Cowboys playbook and formulate a plan of attack; at this point the Cowboys would be happy for a quarterback who just threw the ball down the field.
