His opponent, Berdych of Czech Republic, has been here before with his most successful appearance coming in last season's championship. He cruised until the semifinals where he matched up with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and was eliminated.
This is his third consecutive ATP World Finals appearcance and will have the tough task of beating a tennis player that has finally risen to the occasion.
Murray has the home field advantage as the championship will take place in the O2 Arena in London, England.
Roger Federer is the defending 2011 champion.
