The Atlanta Falcons are coming off their first win of the season and need to get back on track. With the Carolina Panthers still undefeated on the year and sitting at the No.1 spot in the NFC South. The Falcons have to keep pace if they want to make the postseason following a solid start to the year. Coming off a long week of rest, Atlanta is hoping to be fully healthy and ready to play against the Tennessee Titans.
Julio Jones has had two quiet weeks for the Falcons in terms of scores and receiving yards. While he continues to be the go-to threat on tough third-down plays, Jones' numbers have been a little quiet as Devonta Freeman runs the offense. Injuries have played a part in that as the receiver deals with hamstring and toe problems. However, heading into Week 7, Jones is feeling great and is ready to play.
"For me, personally, it's going to be great," Jones said, via ESPN.com. "I've been battling this hamstring. But I'm good, though. I feel better than I did last week. Even after the [Saints] game, I feel really good. Everything I can do, rest-wise, can help. I don't know where that came from as far as being limited. I'm here to play, every play. Whatever they need me to do, I'm here to do."
With Jones limited, Roddy White was able to get moving against the Saints. He recorded his first touchdown of the season in that game and is not looking to slow down. Leonard Hankerson is feeling the same way while Jacob Tamme has been thriving in the tight end position. As the Falcons prepare to play the Tennessee Titans, they are hoping to get the passing game going to match the production that Freeman has.
Right now the running back is the best player in the league with more touchdowns than anyone else. He has been the workhorse for the Falcons' offense. Tevin Coleman is back and healthy, but had a costly fumble in Week 6 that is not going to help his case for more carries. Freeman told the media that the two backs are not rivals to one another and he trying to help guide the rookie as much as possible.
"You generally see those leadership opportunities come up, and he's a guy that connects with so many people in the team," said head coach Dan Quinn. "Devonta [Freeman] has this relationship with so many guys on the team. They respect him so much for how hard he competes, but there's another side of him being a great teammate, as well."
