According to head coach Rex Ryan, if there is anyone that can turn the season around for the Buffalo Bills, it is him. The team has gotten some key wins under their belts, but injuries are about to make things a lot worse. Heading to London for a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Bills are going to be without a lot of their star offensive talent. With Percy Harvin having not made the trip and Sammy Watkins on crutches, the offense is about to be the LeSean McCoy show.
According to Mike Rodak of ESPN, Harvin did not make the trip to London for personal reasons. Harvin has been on the injury report for a hip problem that is expected to linger for several weeks. According to Ryan, the two issues have nothing to do with one another. Harvin is not the only one out for Week 7. Karlos Williams is not expected to play. He has yet to arrive in London as he remains under concussion protocol. Sammy Watkins is another mystery for the team. He is currently in a walking boot and on crutches after injuring his ankle, but has yet to be ruled out for the matchup. That leaves McCoy as the star of the show.
"I felt okay," McCoy said, via the team website. "Certain plays I wish I had back. I feel like I could have done some things different on some different runs. But we, as a unit, we're trying to get better each game and we just got to put it together. We're a good team. Offensively we just have to find our groove and get to it and stick with it. We never have our whole group together-it's one person out, two people out. Every time we come and get back together another injury happens."
That will be the case on Sunday. At best the bills can hope to have Watkins on the field to act as a decoy for the opposing defense. Robert Woods and Charles Clay will be the best receiving options the team has to work with. The biggest question mark is who will start at quarterback. Tyrod Taylor continues to heal from a knee injury. EJ Manuel looked strong against the Cincinnati Bengals. Ryan could opt to go with the hot hand and keep Manuel under center, but Rodak reports that if Taylor is healthy he is expected to be the starter regardless.
