Green Bay Packers Rumors: Steve Smith, Cordarrelle Patterson Trade Targets After Ty Montgomery, Davante Adams Injuries? Vernon Davis, Jared Cook Options

The Green Bay Packers are getting a much-needed buy week as the team is banged up entering Week 7. The Packers are undefeated on the year, but it has certainly come at a price with players like Jordy Nelson out for the season while most of their wide receivers are dealing with some kind of ailment or another. If the Packers want to remain undefeated on the year, the team could look at making a trade in the coming week.

The Packers did get some good news during their bye week. Wide receiver Ty Montgomery went down with an ankle injury in Week 6 that appeared to be severe. However, according to NFL Media's Rand Getlin, the X-rays were negative on Montgomery's ankle as the receiver only has a sprain. There is no news on how much time Montgomery might miss with the issue, but at least they know he can return at some point.

Montgomery's ankle is not the only problem for the Packers. Davante Adams is dealing with an ankle injury as well. Randall Cobb is dealing with a shoulder injury. According to Bleacher Report, the Packers would be wise to look at who is available in trades as several names are coming to the surface. Losing Montgomery for a period of time would really set the offense back and the Packers are lacking the depth to replace him.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk suggests that the Baltimore Ravens could be looking to trade Steve Smith as the veteran receiver is their best offensive producer with an expiring contract. That chances of that happen hinge on whether or not the Ravens lose in Week 7. For now, Chris Wessling of NFL.com is reporting that Smith is not at risk of getting traded. Of course something could end up happening if Baltimore were to lose on Sunday, but the team is not ready to throw the towel in just yet.

Cordarrelle Patterson could be available. According to FOX Sports, the Minnesota Vikings would listen to calls about the receiver who has been replaced by everyone on the roster. With Stefon Diggs emerging as a real threat for the passing game, Patterson is not getting on the field any time soon and a trade would give the team some return on investment.

Vernon Davis is another option for a trade deal for the Packers. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter the tight end would welcome a change in scenery if the 49ers are willing to shop him in deals. With an expiring contract Davis is ideal for the Packers, but his injury history is not.

Green Bay could simply hope that everyone gets healthy in the bye week and quarterback Aaron Rodgers can simply continue to dominate on the field. Eddie Lacy is also in need of some rest. The team will learn a lot about their offense when they face the Broncos' defense in Week 8.
