Novak Djokovic continued dominating in first round competition at the Round-Robin of the ATP World Tour Finals as he defeated Andy Murray 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 Wednesday evening in London.
Djokovic came back after losing the first set, a set in which Murray controlled with his dominant serves. Murray finished the first set with four aces and was simply more efficient.
On serve, Murray was beating Djokovic returning 9/12 of the second serves. This added more pressure on Djokovic to get the ball over on the first serve since Murray's chances of winning the point increases once Djokovic was on second serve.
In the end, Djokovic was able to pull away, breezing by in the second set and then finally locking up the victory in a tight final set.
In their careers, it was their 17th meeting, 10 of which have been won by Djokovic. Murray, however, had defeated Djokovic in two very important matches this tennis year as he went on to win in the Olympics and at the U.S. Open.
However, in this matchup now, Djokovic not only took the victory, but solidified his position in Group A as he is the only player in those standings with two victories.
Tomas Berdych is next on the list, but it looks as though Djokovic will now have no problem advancing to the semifinals.
