The Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics are opening the season on Wednesday night and the game is live from the TD Garden and it starts up at 7:30 pm ET. The Sixers are coming in as a helpless team with young talent, while the Celtics have young talent and made the playoffs last year and they could make some progress.
Brad Stevens comes in after leading the team to 40 wins last season and he has the chance to improve the team even more. David Lee comes in after a trade and players like Marcus Smart, Kelly Olynyk and Avery Bradley give the team a solid core. The Sixers have Jahlil Okafor and he looks like a star in the making and many think that he can win rookie of the year.

The Celtics went 24-12 down the stretch last season and that helped the team make the playoffs and now the team has added Lee and Amir Johnson to the mix. The Celtics have the chance to make some noise in the division, as the Nets, Knicks, Sixers and Raptors could be vulnerable. The Raptors have made the playoffs and should be the favorites, but the Celtics have a chance to make a move.
The Sixers won just 18 games last season, but that was more than the Knicks and now the team has Okafor. The team is going to have Joel Embiid out for another season, but Okafor and Nerlens Noel give the team two big men to build around, if the team actually wants to build. Tony Wroten and Robert Covington are out for the team and that should make things tough and the Sixers are hoping they can start the season on a positive note.
