The Chicago Blackhawks have Patrick Kane off to a strong start this season as the team tries to climb in the standings and this comes as the investigation continues into an alleged sexual assault involving the forward. Duncan Keith had successful surgery on his knee and he will be out for at least a month and potentially more for the defending Stanley Cup champions.
Kane has 11 points in eight games played this season and he has scored five goals and six assists for the Blackhawks. Kane had an empty net goal against the Blue Jackets last week and he recorded three points in the victory for the Blackhawks over the Florida Panthers. Kane has been playing well of late and he had one point against Tampa Bay and has put up five overall in his last three games.
The investigation into an alleged sexual assault that occurred in the Buffalo area continues for Kane and he has been playing as the investigation has gone on. There have not been too many updates over the past few weeks, but the attorney of the accuser dropped her as a client after issues came up involving evidence tampering. Kane has not been charged and has continued to play and the league has not administered any punishment at this time.
The Blackhawks have Keith out for a stretch after the defenseman tore his right meniscus after playing in six games and he could be out for up to six weeks. According to the Chicago Tribune, the Blackhawks announced that Keith had successful surgery and he has been placed on long term injured reserve. Keith had two points in six games this season and last year he was key to the Stanley Cup run for the Blackhawks.
The Blackhawks are ranked 22nd in the league in scoring this season and they are third in the league in goals against. The team is ranked in the top 10 in penalty kill percentage and 17th in power play percentage this season. The Blackhawks next play against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night.
