Ryan Giggs and Mike Phelan were understandably ecstatic after securing qualification into the knockout rounds of the Champions League following a 3-1 win over Braga.
Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez scored for the away side, after Alan had given Braga the lead early in the second half.
United's perfect 12 points from four games are in stark contrast to last season, when the English club were knocked out after the group stages, and Giggs said his side were really happy to make up for that blemish. "We were all disappointed (last season)," Giggs told Sky Sports. "It wasn't good enough.
"We knew we had to do something about it and we have.
"We hope this continues now. We're in good form, both in the league and the Champions League, so we have to carry it on now."
United assistant manager Mike Phelan echoed his veteran player's sentiment. "We made it a difficult game," he said. "We're thankful that we got the points and are now (guaranteed to be) top of the group. Now we can look forward to our league football and kick on in the Champions League when it matters.
"Winning by that scoreline was a little bit surprising. All we did in the first half was keep possession. We only got started when we upped the tempo, and Robin van Persie was instrumental in getting us further up the field."
Giggs also believes Van Persie was the player that changed the game for his side. "Robin gets one chance and he puts it away," he added. "He's just scoring goals for fun at the moment. With the form he's in, his confidence is high and I think everyone knew he was going to score."
Braga manager Jose Peseiro was disappointed to come away empty-handed for the second straight time against United, after the Portuguese club had taken a lead -- 2-0 -- at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture, before going down 3-2.
"Once more we put on a great performance, even better than we did at Old Trafford," he said. "It's sad, a shame, for the players to feel this bitterness once more. We didn't deserve this, we deserved a better result. A match is also defined by errors, and unfortunately we have made errors once more.
"Against these kind of teams any mistake is punished hard. We couldn't allow counterattacks like we did and then they were efficient in scoring from the fewer chances they had. It's a lesson for us. We wanted to win the game and didn't deserve this result.
"I felt we could have got the second goal because United gave us lot of space but our final passes didn't reached their targets. Perhaps had it gone to 2-0 we could have taken control more."
