Baltimore Ravens Fantasy Rumors: Steve Smith, Crockett Gillmore Start Week 8? Justin Forsett Starter For Joe Flacco, Kamar Aiken Sleeper Option

Oct 31, 2015 12:01 PM EDT

The Baltimore Ravens have Steve Smith listed as probable for Week 8 and he is expected to start along with Justin Forsett and Crockett Gillmore for Joe Flacco. The Ravens have have a tough season and fantasy football owners are hoping that Baltimore can step up against San Diego this weekend.

The Ravens have just one win and have been struggling this season with injuries, including to Breshad Perriman, Smith and Gillmore. Smith was able to get things going last week, but he is dealing with a knee issue and that could be a problem for him moving forward. Smith has been having a strong season for the Ravens despite the struggles overall of the team and he is worth starting as long as he is going to play.

Forsett will be ready to start after dealing with an ankle injury earlier in the season, as head coach John Harbaugh said the issue was not serious and he was able to play last week. Forsett had a touchdown last week and added 36 rushing yards and he has also put up solid numbers despite the overall issues for the team.

Forsett previously suffered an ankle injury in the game against the Browns and he was considered "day to day" with the injury but now looks to be fully healed, as he was not on the injury report this week.. Forsett has been strong for the Ravens this season and he went for 121 yards on the ground and a TD along with four catches for 49 yards in Week 6. The Ravens offense has been dealing with injuries, as Steve Smith missed Week 5 along with Crockett Gillmore, while rookie Breshad Perriman has not been able to take the field yet while dealing with a knee injury, but the other two players are ready to go.

With all of the injuries for Joe Flacco, fantasy owners should look at Kamar Aiken and Maxx Williams as options to pick up for the bench. Aiken has been solid this season and he previously had four catches for 78 yards on nine targets against the Browns. The Ravens have started off the season 1-5 and the defense has had some tough games and one reason is due to injuries. The team lost Will Davis and according to Pro Football Talk, the team has signed Shareece Wright and let go of Jason Babin to help make room on the roster in the secondary. The secondary has been hit hard by injuries and the team has also had to deal with the loss of Terrell Suggs for the season with a torn Achilles injury.

Babin did not do much for the Ravens after getting signed and now he is a free agent and can sign with another team. Davis was acquired earlier in the season in a trade with the Dolphins to help with injuries in the secondary and now the cornerback himself has been injured. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Davis suffered a torn ACL injury in the overtime game with the Browns in Week 5 and now he is out for the season. The Ravens have never been off to a start like this in franchise history and this is the worst start for the team under head coach John Harbaugh in his tenure in Baltimore.
