Torii Hunter has not been an All-Star since 2009, but at least five teams have been rumored to being interested in the right-fielder.
The New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox have been the players mentioned when concerning an acquisition of Hunter.
What will they receive in this 36-year-old outfielder?
He still has a cannon out in right field completing 14 assists while only committing four errors last season. He had a .984 fielder percentage, which was slightly under his career .992.
What impressed more was his 16 homers and 92 RBI while sporting a .313 batting average.
After spending 11 years in Minnesota patrolling centerfield for the Twins, he averaged 21 homers 86 RBI and a .286 batting average in five years with the Los Angeles Angels.
Also, teams would be paying for one of the most lovable players in the sport. Never has Hunter been a part of an baseball controversy and continues to be one of the more popular players in locker rooms.
The Phillies could use another star in their lineup following their trade of Hunter Pence. The Rangers could use Hunter as great backup in case they don't retain their slugger Josh Hamilton. The Red Sox need to give fans a reason to go to the games, Hunter could make that happen. The Tiger are in dier need of right fielder as we saw in the World series. The Yankees, well the Yankees could use any help they can get.
How much would Hunter cost?
Well, according to Jon Heyman CBS Sports' baseball insider, Hunter is priced somewhere around the vecinity of $13 million a year. He predicts that Hunter could go for a two-year $26 million contract, similar to the St. Louis Cardinals' offer to Carlos Beltran. Heyman predicted maybe even pushing it to a three-year deal.
The case is, these teams have the history of having more than enough to spend on a guy like Hunter, but let's see what happens with the right field free agent.
