San Diego Chargers
Keenan Allen/Malcom Floyd (Wide Receiver): Allen owners were cheated out of seeing their receiver beat the life out of this Ravens secondary after he left the game with back spasms. Luckily for Allen owners he found the end zone beforehand. Allen would finish the game catching all 5 of his targets for 35 yards and a touchdown. Floyd would take over after Allen went down, and he did not disappoint. Floyd caught 4 out of his 6 targets for 92 yards and 2 touchdowns. If Allen, Gates, and Green are all hurting in week 9 Floyd will be a great option to start.
Melvin Gordon/Branden Oliver/Danny Woodhead (Running Backs): The Chargers leaned on Gordon today as the rookie finished the game with 18 carries for 54 yards and caught 5 out of 6 targets for 7 yards. Gordon was the clear leader in this backfield as Branden Oliver only had 4 attempts for 18 yards a caught both of his targets for 16 yards. Woodhead on the other hand was stuck holding the short end of the stick as he only had 3 carries for 9 yards and caught 2 out of 3 targets for 36 yards.
Antonio Gates/Ladarius Green (Tight End): Gates did not look at all healthy in this week 8 game as he only managed to reel in 4 out of 5 targets for 56 yards. Things went from bad to worse as Green also went down after catching his only target of the day for 10 yards. Green suffered an ankle injury and is likely questionable for week 9.
Philip Rivers (Quarterback): Rivers had a great day despite losing several key weapons. Rivers completed 28 of 37 passing attempts for 301 yards and 3 touchdowns. Rivers will continue to be a weekly QB 1.
Baltimore Ravens
Steve Smith SR (Wide Receiver): Smith probably had the saddest fantasy day and not because of statistics. Smith caught 5 out of 7 balls for 82 yards before tearing his Achilles. Smith season is over and his retirement tour will have to be put on hold, until next season.
Justin Forsett (Running Back): Forsett was unusually ineffective on the ground. He had 17 attempts but only gained 69 yards and caught his only target for 5 yards. This offensive line will need to play better if they want Forsett to become a more effective weapon.
