Baltimore Ravens Rumors: Jacoby Jones Option After Steve Smith, Breshad Perriman Injuries? Joe Morgan Signed as Kamar Aiken, Chris Givens Help Joe Flacco

In an effort to salvage the season, the Baltimore Ravens are looking to replace Steve Smith who was lost for the year after leading the team in receiving. The Ravens are short on healthy bodies heading into the bye week as Joe Flacco is trying to make something out of nothing. After signing Joe Morgan to the roster, could a reunion be in the making with Jacoby Jones?

According to ESPN's Ed Werder, the Ravens signed Morgan after taking interest in Hakeem Nicks on Tuesday. The Ravens felt that Morgan had bigger upside than Nicks in order to give Flacco another deep threat to work with after losing Smith. Morgan worked out alongside Nicks and Chuck Jacobs. Nicks appeared to be a favored receiver to add to the offense considering this was his fifth tryout since getting released from the Tennessee Titans.

The addition of Morgan replaces Smith, but what about finding someone to replace Breshad Perriman? According to the Baltimore Sun, the chances Perriman gets back on the field are slim to none after he suffered a setback in his recovery from a PCL injury. That leaves the Ravens short another player for the season. However, despite the lack of bodies, fans should not expect a reunion with Jacoby Jones who was released from the San Diego Chargers.

According to Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, the Super Bowl hero will not be hearing from the Ravens now that he is available to sign. Jones would not really be a huge upgrade over the players currently on the roster, but he does have built up chemistry with Flacco that could sway decisions. Instead, the Ravens will work with Morgan and the rest of the roster group during the bye week to try and get some wins for the team.

With Smith out, Kamar Aiken takes over as the leading receiver. He has 333 yards on the season compared to Smith's 670. Chris Givens will get more playing time along with Marlon Brown. Crockett Gillmore and Maxx Williams will be expected to step up at the tight end position as the Ravens hope to utilize their versatility more. None of them are close to the talent Smith has been this season, but they will be enough to potentially get a little positive momentum working for the Ravens.
