The Edmonton Oilers will be without Connor McDavid for "months" after the rookie injured his shoulder against the Philadelphia Flyers. The New York Islanders are expecting to get back John Tavares on Thursday when the team takes on the Montreal Canadiens.

McDavid was injured after hitting the boards and Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli announced this week that McDavid will need surgery. According to NHL.com, McDavid has a broken clavicle and Chiarelli said that McDavid will be out for "months" and that the "injury was bad luck." The 18-year-old McDavid had five goals and seven assists in 13 games for the Oilers this season.

The New York Islanders may get back John Tavares this week after the center missed three games with "flu-like symptoms," according to Newsday. The team comes in at 7-3-3 overall this season and the Islanders went 1-1-1 without Tavares over the last three games. Tavares has 11 points in 10 games this season, scoring five goals and recording six assists.
