The Buffalo Bills returned from their bye week relatively healthy and it showed as the team beat the Miami Dolphins in a key division win. Sammy Watkins and Tyrod Taylor played the biggest roles for the team in defeating the Dolphins which was a good sign since injuries are once again hitting the roster. With Percy Harvin officially out for the year, LeSean McCoy is also banged up again.
The important thing with the Bills is that they are playing on a short week as they take on the New York Jets on Thursday night football. With that, all eyes are on McCoy who left the game against the Dolphins with a reported shoulder injury. This is the second injury the running back has had this year as he missed a portion of games at the start of the season with a hamstring injury. McCoy had 112 yards on 16 carries, but left in the fourth quarter with the injury and did not return. According to the running back he should be fine by Thursday.
"Man, injuries. It's another one," McCoy said, via the Buffalo News. "I'll be all right, though. We'll treat it up and do different things. I'll be fine."
If McCoy was unable to play, Karlos Williams would get the starting nod. He returned to form in Week 9 after dealing with a concussion injury. The backup put up 110 yards on nine carries to be a nice compliment to McCoy. However, if the veteran cannot play, faith is high in the rookie to get the job done.
The Bills also got a major performance from Watkins in the wake of the news that Harvin was done for the season. According to Mike Rodak of ESPN, Harvin was placed on injured reserve as he continues to deal with hip and knee issues. Harvin has not played since Oct. 11 as rumors of retirement circle around him. ESPN's Adam Schefter, Harvin is set to have knee surgery this week, but fully intends to rejoin the Bills next season. Harvin inked a three-year deal with the Bills in March, but the team could easily void the final two years if they keep him on the roster five days after the Super Bowl.
Harvin was a distant memory thanks to the break-out game Watkins had. In need of backing up his commands to get the ball more, Watkins put up a career-high 168 yards on eight catches along with a nice 44-yard touchdown catch. The receiver was fully healthy from his ankle injury and became a nice safety blanket for Taylor to work with.
