With the Minnesota Vikings leading late in the 3rd quarter their starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was injured on what looked to be a late hit from Lamarcus Joyner.
The hit itself looked relatively tame to what we have seen this season however the outcome was pretty disturbing. Joyner came in fast as Bridgewater was giving himself up on the ground and grazed Bridgewater's head with his shoulder/forearm.
The resulting hit forced Bridgewater's head to snap back and hit the turf. Bridgewater was asleep, fully knocked out from a late hit. Needless to say the Vikings were more than upset after the game about the unnecessary hit.
This would likely not be as big of a deal if infamous 'bountygate' defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. The Vikings went on to win the game 21-18 against the Rams in overtime and Bridgewater has stated that he thought he could have returned to the game and thought he was fine however we all clearly saw Bridgewater get knocked out cold and for a second this had the feel of one of those major injuries that have previously occurred.
The NFL is reportedly reviewing Joyner's hit on Bridgewater and just because of the outcry about this a fine is expected. If Bridgewater misses anytime the Vikings playoff hopes could find themselves in jeopardy.
