The NFL standings heading into Week 10 has the New England Patriots, Cincinnati Bengals and Carolina Panthers undefeated at 8-0 and all three are leading their respective divisions. The schedule this weekend has some big games for teams battling for playoff position, including in the wild card in the AFC and the NFC.
The three teams undefeated at this point are the most 8-0 teams that have been in the NFL at the same time before and there is a good chance at least one of those teams makes it to the Super Bowl. The Patriots are coming in after winning the title last season and they are leading the AFC East over the Jets. The Bengals have a nice lead in the AFC North, while the Panthers are leading the Falcons in the NFC South.
The Jets come into the week at 5-3 and they are playing on Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are 4-4 and this could be a big game for the wild card standings by the end of the season. The Dolphins are fourth in the division at 3-5 after losing to the Bills last week. The Bengals have built a nice lead in the AFC North ahead of the Steelers, who are 5-4, while the Ravens and Browns both have two wins this season (CLE is 2-7, BAL is 2-6).
The AFC South has been one of the weakest divisions in football and the Colts are leading with a 4-5 record. The Texans are second at 3-5 and the Jaguars and Titans are at the bottom of the division with 2.6 records. The AFC West has the 7-1 Broncos leading, while the Raiders are 4-4 ahead of the Chiefs at 3-5 and the Chargers at 2-7 this season.
The NFC East has also been weak this season and the Giants are currently leading at 5-4 over the Eagles. Philly is 4-4 and they are in ahead of the Redskins at 3-5 and the Cowboys at 2-6 and Dallas has lost six straight games. The Vikings and Packers are leading the NFC North at 6-2, but Minnesota has the edge moving forward with a 3-0 divisional record heading into the second half of the season. The Bears and Lions are in the bottom of the division with Chicago at 3-5 and Detroit at 1-7.
The Panthers are leading the NFC South with an 8-0 record and they are in ahead of the Falcons, who are 6-3 this season. The Saints are 4-5, while the Buccaneers are at the bottom of the division with a 3-5 record. The Cardinals are leading the NFC West with a 6-2 record, while the Rams and the Seahawks are 4-4 ahead of the 6-6 San Francisco 49ers.
The AFC Wild Card picture has the Jets and Steelers currently in position, while the Bills and Raiders are 4-4 and on the outside looking in. The Chiefs, Dolphins and Texans are 3-5 and need to shape up to stay in the mix. The NFC wild card picture has the Vikings/Packers (whoever doesn't win the NFC North, although right now the Packers are in the division lead based on rule tiebreakers) along with the Falcons, while the Rams, Seahawks and Eagles are in the mix at 4-4.
