Pittsburgh Steelers Fantasy Rumors: DeAngelo Williams Start Option Over Jordan Todman, Ben Roethlisberger Out Week 10?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have Ben Roethlisberger dealing with a foot injury and he could be out for Week 10, meaning Landry Jones would get the start at quarterback. DeAngelo Williams is also banged up, but the running back is expected to play and if he is limited, fantasy football owners could look at Jordan Todman as an emergency option.

Roethlisberger suffered a foot injury last week for the Steelers and initial reports had the quarterback missing "at least two weeks" for the team. According to Pro Football Talk, Roethlisberger is practicing on Thursday and while that doesn't mean he will start or play on Sunday against the Browns, it's progress after the initial diagnosis. Roethlisberger has already missed multiple games this year with a knee injury and if he is out this week, Landry Jones is expected to make his second start of the season.

Adam Schefter at ESPN reports that Roethlisberger is "ahead of schedule" in recovering from the injury, as he was able to remove the protective walking boot on his foot that he had on after the game on Sunday. Earlier in the week Roethlisberger did not rule himself out for the Week 10 matchup, but he also did not say if he would be ready to play. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Roethlisberger is practicing in a limited capacity on Thursday for the Steelers.

DeAngelo Williams could be limited a bit on Sunday with a foot injury, as ESPN reports that Williams did not participate in practice on Wednesday. Earlier in the week ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler reported that Williams is "making progress" and that Williams could be ready to play on Sunday. Head coach Mike Tomlin said that Williams was expected to miss practice on Wednesday and Fowler writes that he "should be ready" for the game on Sunday.

The Steelers are hoping that Williams can go, as the team lost Le'Veon Bell for the season and the only options behind Williams right now are Jordan Todman and Isaiah Pead. Williams has stepped in nicely for Bell, rushing for 170 yards and added 55 receiving yards last week with two touchdowns against the Raiders. In the games that Williams has played for the Steelers when they haven't had Bell, Williams has had five combined touchdowns and has been over 120 yards twice. Williams is averaging five yards per carry and if the team is without Roethlisberger Sunday, they will need Williams to be in the lineup.

While Roethlisberger has a chance to play Sunday, it's looking very likely that it will be Jones in the starting lineup. Jones comes in after starting in Week 7 for Roethlisberger and that game saw him throw for 209 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the loss to the Chiefs. This season overall Jones has appeared in three games and has 456 passing yards with three touchdowns and two picks and is completing less than 60 percent of his passes.
