The SEC Championship is still within reach for the LSU Tigers, but they must win out in order to try and make it happen. The Tigers are coming off an upsetting loss over the Alabama Crimson Tide where their offense was halted against the tough defense. Now they must try and figure out how to bounce back against an Arkansas team coming off a big win over Mississippi.
The Tigers sit in a tie with the Tide for the lead in the SEC West. That means they must win out while the Tide must fall once more in order for LSU to punch their ticket to Atlanta. While the matchup against the Razorbacks might not have looked tough at the start of the season, the team has begun to mesh well and the overtime win against Ole Miss proved they are a threat for the remainder of the year.
The win against Ole Miss certainly got the Razorbacks their confidence. Down a touchdown, the team put together one of the craziest lateral touchdowns to force overtime and eventually get the win. They are not averaging 472.6 yards of offense per game which could be a test against the LSU Tigers. Quarterback Brandon Allen is coming off one of his best performances of his career after throwing six touchdowns against the Rebels. He is much more of a threat than Jake Coker was while the run game is just as dynamic. The Razorbacks then combine the duo of Drew Morgan and Dominique Reed who put together 16 catches for 222 yards and five touchdowns against Ole Miss. The Tigers cannot afford to overlook this team.
The biggest question for the Tigers is getting Fournette back to his rushing self. The Tide seemed to have the running back's number last week and since then he has been facing questions from the NCAA about a website selling merchandise with his face on it. Fournette is still very much alive in the Heisman race and a bounce-back game against the Razorbacks are secure that. The x-factor for the team is Brandon Harris who simply did not do enough against the Tide. If the quarterback play can improve, the Tigers will easily avoid the letdown against Arkansas.
