World Cup 2018 Qualifier Results: United States Wins Over St. Vincent 6-1, Trinidad and Tobago Next On Schedule for USMNT

The United States Men's National Soccer Team started off 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying with a victory over St. Vincent and the Grenadines with a 6-1 win at Busch Stadium on Friday night. The team came back from being a goal down and opened the CONCACAF semis round with a win and now they will play Trinidad and Tobago next on the schedule.

The US came into the opening game of the qualifiers as the heavy favorites over St. Vincent, but the team went down 1-0 to start the game. Oalex Anderson put in a goal after getting past DeAndre Yedlin on defense, but the lead did not last long, as the United States tied the game soon after with a goal from Bobby Wood just six minutes later.

The United States did not let up and scored two more times in the half to take the lead and the team later added three more goals for the 6-1 victory. Jozy Altidore looked good throughout the game and he scored twice, while Fabian Johnson also scored a goal. Geoff Cameron and Gyasi Zardes scored the other goals for the United States and the team now has their first victory of this round.

Darlington Nagbe and Matt Miazga made their debut for the national team and they could get more playing time against Trinidad after coming in as substitutes. The next match for the United States is against Trinidad and Tobago and that will be at Hasely Crawford in Port of Spain on Tuesday and the game starts at 6:30 p.m. ET. Trinidad & Tobago come in after winning their opening match in the semifinal round qualifying with a 2-1 win against Guatemala.

The other matches on Friday saw Guatemala lose to Trinidad and Tobago, while Mexico won over El Salvador with a 3-0 score. The CONCACAF Group B results included Costa Rica winning over Haiti, while Jamaica lost 2-0 against Panama. Canada won over Honduras, while Argentina and Brazil had a draw and Peru won over Paraguay.
