The Dallas Cowboys are hopeful. According to Tony Romo, the team might have a lot of ground to gain, but the season is not over by any means. With their starting quarterback in action, the Cowboys do certainly stand a chance at getting the wins going as they prepare to face the Miami Dolphins in Week 11. Now it is about their role players stepping up as Robert Turbin joins the rotation.
The Cowboys have been making their way through running backs since opting not to sign DeMarco Murray in free agency. The team lost Lance Dunbar. They released Joseph Randle and Christine Michael. That leaves them with Darren McFadden and question marks. According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys have signed Robert Turbin who was most recently with the Cleveland Browns, but fell out of favor. Turbin was considered a talented back, but never got a chance in Cleveland carrying the ball just 18 times for 60 yards. The Cowboys need him to make an impact immediately.
It is unclear what Turbin's role will be in Week 11, but he will be the primary backup for McFadden for the remainder of the year and has the chance to take away some fantasy points for the veteran and be a handcuff for owners. Until he gets fully acclimated, Rod Smith will be the primary No.2 heading into the game against Miami.
The Cowboys are hopeful they can get things moving. Getting Romo back, means players like Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams can get moving again. Both Brandon Weeden and Matt Cassel never took shots down the field which hurt their value. According to head coach Jason Garrett, he does not want Romo thinking he must save the day, but the quarterback is confident things can turn around.
"I think anytime you're losing in the National Football League, it's tough on everybody," Romo said, via ESPN.com. "Sometimes when you're not able to help your team as far as physically being out on the field, but the guys left it out on the field. I'm really inspired by the way they just committed every week. And obviously the results weren't exactly the way they wanted or anything, but I think when you watch how they play, I think it gives us a great opportunity to still go out and accomplish the goals. You just have very little room for error."
The Cowboys certainly have a lot of work to do. They are chasing the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East. Seven straight losses does not help their case, but having Romo along with Bryant means the offense should at least start to move better.
