NBA Results: Lakers Lose to Spurs, D'Antonio to Take Over Sub .500 Team

Nov 14, 2012 01:26 AM EST

The Los Angeles Lakers could not get to 4-4 as they dropped their first game since the firing of former head coach Mike Brown. The San Antonio Spurs stole it in the final seconds to defeat the struggling Lakers 84-82.

The ageless Tim Duncan continued to dominate despite being 36. He finished the night with 18 points, nine rebounds, four assists and blocks.

However, the man of the night was Danny Green who hit a late three to give the Spurs the lead as time was winding down.

With the victory, the Spurs improve to 7-1. Not only are they one of the best teams in the league, they are proving early on in the season that thay are among the best closers in the league as this was not their first time winning late in the game. Just ask the New Orleans Hornets.

Kobe Bryant tried his best to get the Lakers to 4-4 scoring 28 points on 12-19 shooting. He also had eight assists in this game.

For the Lakers, or more so Mike D'Antoni, it means they will start fresh as they will work, not only to live up to the hype of having all the superstars, but now they will try to get back to .500.

The Lakers will take on D'Antoni's former team, the Phoenix Suns on Friday. Meanwhile, the Spurs have the daunting task of facing the Knicks, the undefeated Knicks.
