The Clemson Tigers understand the target on their backs is big. The team is sitting at the top of the College Football Playoff rankings and cannot afford to let up. The Tigers have one more regular season game and the ACC Championship to maintain their No.1 ranking and teams will not go easy on the team.
After a season of turmoil, the South Carolina Gamecocks would love to be the team to hand their rival their first loss.Clemson is aiming for their second-straight win over the Gamecocks. This year's matchup lacks something and it might be Steve Spurrier who was let go in the middle of the season. The Gamecocks have been struggling this season which was highlighted by the loss to the Citadel last week. South Carolina has lot four straight games while losing four of their last five without Spurrier on the sidelines. Things are a disaster but a win over the Tigers would at least help save something for the fans.
For South Carolina, their biggest task to contain quarterback Deshaun Watson. The Clemson quarrterback has some a long way since he tore his ACL in his left knee. The quarterback is now 15-1 as a starter for the team and a Heisman trophy contender. Much of that will be determined with how Watson plays in the last two games. The quarterback is setting himself up to have a huge game against the Gamecocks who have struggled on defense all season. The quarterback is coming off a game where he threw for 343 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Wake Forest. He has barely struggled all season and that is not expected to change against South Carolina.
Absolutely no one is giving South Carolina a chance in this game. Perry Orth has not looked great in his junior season while the run game has lacked consistency. The Tigers have made very few mistakes this season an they do not intend to start against their top rival. The Gamecocks are expected to be in for a long day against the Tigers as they aim to try and save something from this season.
