Toronto Blue Jays Rumors: Melky Cabrera Signed for Two-Year $16 Million

Talk about a surprise! Melky Cabrera signed with the Toronto Blue Jays for $16 million over the next two years

The player who was on the road to break records was caught doping in the middle of the 2012 season as he was a part of the San Francisco Giants.

The question is, which Melky Cabrera are the Blue Jays signing?

Cabrera has always had a strong arm since coming up with the New York Yankees in 2005 so his defense is unquestionable.

However, what about his bat? Melky has proven he can hit in the clutch and hit at least ten homers a season, but his numbers in Kansas City were above average.

Prior to KC, he struggled as a member of the Atlanta Braves hitting four home runs and driving in 42 RBI whil hitting only .255. Melky did very well for the Royals hitting .303 with 18 home runs and 87 RBI, but after his recent PED use scandal, one can only raise an eyebrow as far as Melky doing it straight.

With the Giants, Melky was simply a monster. He got the Giants homefield advantage by coming up big in the All-Star game, but then left his team out to die as many thought they could not survive without him.

The Giants did not want anything to do with Melky. He was not only left out of the World Series roster, but his name wasn't even on their t-shirts.

For the Blue Jays, if he can just give them the Melky who played with the Yankees and per season hit just over seven homers and 45 RBI with a .269 batting average, they will surely have a place for him in their lineup. Don't know that it's worth $8 million a year, but Melky should feel fortunate to be back in an MLB jersey.
