The Minnesota Timberwolves host the Golden State Warriors on Friday evening with tipoff taking place just after 7 p.m. ET.
It is no mystery, the Timberwolves are injured and they are injured badly. They are 5-3 without Rubio and Love, but that record could be flipped soon if the T'Wolves can't get somebody to step up.
So far, their main man has been Andrei Kirilenko, who has double-doubles in three straight games. Most recently he dropped 26 and grabbed 12 rebounds in a losing effort to the Charlotte Bobcats.
They trailed by 16 points entering the final quarter, but could not complete the comeback as Kemba Walker hit a dagger jumper to seal the Bobcats victory as time was winding down.
Josh Howard was signed to give the Timberwolves some help downlow.
"We need somebody at that spot. We looked around and he seemed to be a good candidate," coach Rick Adelman said. "Offensively, we don't have a lot of firepower," Adelman said. "But if you defend well enough, it helps your offense."
They will face a Warriors team that is 4-4 in the season. A win for Golden State would mean a step in the right direction as they will embark on a short road trip with stops in Dallas and OKC.
"We go on a road trip with some tough stops and we're excited to have some momentum going for sure," Lee said.
