Two teams looking to push their way up the table will lock horns as Newcastle United host Swansea City in the English Premier League Saturday.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew will quickly want to forget the shock 1-0 defeat to West Ham at home last week, but last season's surprise packages face another stiff task in Swansea.

Michael Laudrup has got his side playing in a fluent but efficient manner, and after picking up a point against Southampton, thanks to a second half equalizer from Nathan Dyer, the Welsh side will look to continue their momentum and climb towards the European places.

"They are a strong team," Laudrup told reporters. "And following their defeat to West Ham last weekend they will want to put on a good performance.

"It is a similar situation to when we played Southampton last weekend. They needed a win and we knew what to expect, and it will be the same on Saturday.

"It makes it a little more difficult for us but I hope we can play like we did in the first half at St Mary's but create a few more chances.

"Newcastle will want to put on a good display for the fans and we need to be prepared and make sure we are at our best to try and get something from the game."

Pardew, meanwhile, wants to improve his side's form at St James' Park. "Our home form hasn't been great," he said. "We've nicked a couple of wins, we've had injuries and again this weekend we will be scratching around a bit in terms of our senior players.

"We have to have extra resolve and get a victory. It's a tough test for us because we are going to have a stadium that will expect us to win, and Swansea keep the ball really well.

"Our fans are going to have to be patient and understand it's a difficult game and one where they will come to frustrate us.

"But it's important that we give our fans some entertainment that will lift them."

Newcastle will be without influential players Yohan Cabaye and Jonas Guttierez, while James Perch remains sidelined with Fabricio Coloccini suspended. Demba Ba, Cheick Tiote and Danny Simpson, however, are available.

For Swansea, Ki Sung-Yeung has been ruled out with a hamstring problem, while Leon Britton and Pablo Hernandez are carrying knocks with Ki's preferred replacement Kemy Agustien also a doubt. Chico Flores, however, is expected to return after missing the last couple of games because of a dead leg.
