Everton will start clear favorites against a Reading side desperate to pick up their first win of the English Premier League season.

Reading are third bottom, on six points from 11 games, and are yet to pick up maximum points, while Everton are sitting pretty in fourth on 20 points.

Reading have been linked with experienced manager Dick Advocaat in the past few days, with Brian McDermott struggling to keep pace in the English Premier League. However, McDermott is just happy to ignore all the rumors and continue with his job at hand.

"Last week, the football wasn't what we wanted to play and I suppose that effected the atmosphere," McDermott told the BBC. "We want to play some good stuff on Saturday and get the fans behind us as we really need them.

"We look a lot more solid and it's now it's about finding the balance.

"You can't always have the gung-ho attitude. We've got to find the balance, get a clean sheet and score goals at the other end."

"Everton are really competitive, they've started the season well and they've got a real spirit about their group," he added.

McDermott said he has a plan or two up his sleeve to topple Everton, but expectedly kept his cards close to his chest. "We've done something -- we did it before the Norwich game," he added. "We talked about letting leads slip and put a plan into place for after scoring and late on in the game. Last season, we killed games off so well and it's important that we do it again

"We've drawn six games out of ten, and five out of six. Obviously we're drawing a lot, so it means we're in the games. By definition, we could have had six wins -- because a draw can be a win very easily.

"We're going to look at getting the right result against Everton -- and that's three points. Afterwards, we move on to the next game. We're living in the moment and nothing else."

In team news, Everton will be without Kevin Mirallas, who is yet to recover from a hamstring strain, while Darron Gibson is ruled out. "He (Mirallas) won't be fit for this game and I'm not quite sure how long he'll be out for," manager David Moyes said. "It's not as bad as we thought but he will not be fit for this game. Darron is still injured (as well)."
