The NY Giants stayed alive in the NFC East race with a win over the Dolphins on Monday to set up a three-way tie with the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles in the division standings. The Redskins hold the tiebreakers over the Eagles and Giants currently, but all three teams are 6-7 with three games left in the season.
The Giants won 31-24 against the Dolphins in Miami on Monday and now the team has the chance to keep things going next week against the Panthers. The Giants have Carolina, Minnesota and Philadelphia on the schedule for the final three games and that will make it very tough for the team to make the playoffs. The Giants have been inconsistent for most of the season, but they are in position to make a run and if the Redskins stumble, they have the chance to win the division title.
Eli Manning had a strong game on Monday with 332 yards and four touchdowns and two of those went to Odell Beckham, who set some records in the process. Manning only missed on four of his 31 passes in the game and the win keeps the Giants tied with the Redskins and the Eagles for the time being. Beckham had seven catches in the game and he is now first on the list for most catches by a wide receiver in his first two seasons in the NFL, according to Pro Football Talk.
Beckham has once again put up impressive numbers and he also made a great touchdown catch on the side of the endzone, keeping his feet inbounds and keeping control of the ball as he hit the ground. Beckham had 166 yards in the game and now has 85 catches for 1320 yards and 12 touchdowns this season for the Giants in 13 games. Beckham has already surpassed his yardage total from last season and he likely will pass his 91 catches and 12 touchdowns that he put up in 12 games in 2014.
The NFC East has been a mess of a division all season, but someone will win it and make the playoffs and the Giants are hoping they can be that team. The Giants play the Eagles in the final week of the season and that gives the team a chance at the title if the Redskins stumble. The Redskins play against the Bills, Eagles and Cowboys to finish the season and if the Eagles win that head-to-head matchup and the Giants can win their next two games, it will set up a Week 17 battle for the division. The Eagles and Redskins each can take the division if they win out, as they still have a head-to-head matchup coming.
