The Washington Redskins are dealing with some injuries on offense heading into Week 15 and DeSean Jackson could be out for the team on Sunday with a knee issue. Jordan Reed comes in after a big game, while Matt Jones could be a better fantasy start option for the playoffs over Alfred Morris for Kirk Cousins this weekend.
The Redskins remain in control of the NFC East despite the Eagles and Giants winning this weekend, as the team can win out and win the division. The Redskins have the Bills, Eagles and Cowboys as the final games on the schedule and with a head-to-head win over Philadelphia, the team can basically take hold of the division, as they currently hold the tiebreaker over the Giants.
The Redskins are hoping that DeSean Jackson can play on Sunday, as the wide receiver is dealing with a "patella contusion" and could be limited in practice this week. According to the Washington Post, Jackson said that he isn't sure whether or not he will be able to play against the Bills, saying "I don't know" in reference to his status for the game. Jackson added that he will "see how the week progresses. Got to get some treatment."
Jackson took a hit against the Bears on Sunday and was able to stay in the game, but he later was stretching out the knee on the sidelines and the injury appeared to hamper him in the game. Jackson only had two catches against the Bears and the Redskins would really love to get Jackson going after he missed most of the season with injuries. The team has Jordan Reed playing well, but they have suffered a number of injuries at tight end and that makes the health of Jackson even more crucial heading into Week 15.
Matt Jones has been a more consistent option over Alfred Morris this season and fantasy owners should think about using him for the playoffs. Jones had 20 touches compared to 11 for Morris in the game and while he did not get into the end zone, he is more reliable than Morris at this point in the season.
Derek Carrier suffered a torn ACL and MCL this past weekend and now he will be placed on injured reserve, according to the Washington Post. That makes three tight ends for the Redskins on IR with Niles Paul and Logan Paulsen already out for the season. According to Adam Schefter at ESPN, the team has added tight end Alex Smith to help make up for Carrier and he will play behind Reed for this week.
Reed had a strong performance against the Bears on Sunday and he has the chance to keep that going with Jackson banged up. Reed had nine catches for 120 yards and a touchdown in the game and he now has seven touchdowns on the season. Reed has been a nice security blanket for Kirk Cousins when healthy and that should continue into Week 15.
