Despite facing a loaded box the NFL's top rookie running back Todd Gurley has hit 1,000 rushing yards in his rookie season.
The 1,000 yard milestone was made even sweeter as it came with a touchdown. Gurley fought through a blitzing Tampa Bay defense that looked to stop him behind the line of scrimmage. He extended the ball across the goal line and history was achieved. Gurley has become the third Rams rookie in history to reach that milestone, only Jerome Bettis in 1993 and Eric Dickerson in 1983 have achieved that level of excellence.
Gurley got a late start to the 2015 campaign thanks to recovery time related to an ACL injury that sidelined him for the beginning of the season. Gurley now has amassed 1,023 yards, 9 touchdowns, with an average of 4.8 yards per carry. Even in such a down year for the Rams and relocation looming, Gurley is an incredibly exciting addition to this offense. When you add him to a play maker like Tavon Austin you have two key pieces of a fast paced, dangerous offense in the works.
If the Rams can score big in the draft or free agency on the offensive side of the ball, whether it be offensive lineman, quarterback, or wide receiver, the Rams will certainly be an interesting team to watch in the 2016 season.
