The NFL is reportedly looking into allegations made by a documentary called "The Darkside" that aired on Al Jazeera America.
The "documentary" supposedly states that an Indianapolis drug ring supplied athletes with HGH. One of the biggest athletes mentioned was Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. The documentary has British Hurdler, Liam Collins, going undercover to secretly record with both audio and video the doctors and pharmacists that would distribute performance enhancing drugs.
A pharmacist at the Guyer Institute in Indianapolis was secretly filmed and states that he has sent HGH regularly to Peyton's wife Ashley. This was apparently during the time in which Manning was recovering from multiple neck surgeries in 2011.
Manning and other professional athletes are enraged that this "documentary" was even produced. One of the main sources for the story, (the pharmacist who worked for the Guyer Institute), has recently recanted everything he has said. This may not stop Manning or other NFL superstars from taking action against these vile acquisitions.
Manning may sue Al Jazeera America or the creators of the documentary themselves for slander and defamation. Regardless the NFL is being pressured to treat these allegations like they treated Deflategate because this actively involves performance enhancing drugs instead of just performance enhancing activities. The NFL should have an interesting response to all of this.
