NFL News: Dez Bryant Shut Down For Season By Dallas Cowboys, Placed On Injured Reserve

Dec 30, 2015 05:29 PM EST

The Dallas Cowboys have been an injury riddled bunch all season long, for one player that season has finally come to an end.

Dez Bryant is the Cowboys offensive spark who ignites the players around him to increase their levels of production unfortunately for the Cowboys Bryant had been dealing with a broken bone in his foot for most of the season. Dez missed over a quarter of the season thanks to injuries and these injuries have finally caught up to the all-star wide receiver.

Bryant was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday after the Cowboys revealed he would need surgery on both his foot and ankle. The surgery on his foot is largely just to help fortify the original bone graft he received earlier in the season. The surgery on Bryant's ankle is likely a cleanup procedure after injuring it during his only 100 yard game of the season.

The Cowboys shutting down Bryant for the remainder of the season is likely a byproduct of their season being pretty much over. Not a lot has gone right this season for the Cowboys but they are hoping to leave the problems of their 2015 season in 2015. Dez Bryant should be ready to practice for the Cowboys offseason workouts.
