NFL News: Could Robert Griffin III End Up With Dallas Cowboys? RG3’s Family Wears Custom Team Jerseys For Week 17 Game

Jan 04, 2016 11:57 AM EST

There was an odd sight on the sidelines at the Dallas Cowboys/Washington Redskins game in week 17. Robert Griffin III's family was seen on the sidelines wearing customized Dallas Cowboys jerseys with the letters RGIII on the back.

It was pretty odd to see the family of one of the most polarizing players in recent memory support a bitter rival such as the Dallas Cowboys. With the Dallas Cowboys backup quarterback concerns heading into 2016 and the future of the position a current question mark there are plenty of options on the table for the Cowboys to pursue.

RGIII is spending his days on the Washington Redskins bench as he looks to be an offseason cut for the Redskins. With the Cowboys likely to take a look at multiple backup quarterbacks there should be some significant interest in Robert Griffin's services.

With Griffin spending a whole season on the bench his body has had ample time to heal as injuries knocked him from the starting job in Washington. With so many significant injuries RGIII struggled to be effective behind a porous Redskins offensive line. RGIII's family is likely just being optimistic that Griffin will end up with a team that will need him in the future, whether or not the Cowboys will take a chance on him remains to be seen.
