Cleveland Browns News: Ray Farmer, Mike Pettine Fired, Johnny Manziel Future Uncertain?

Jan 04, 2016 09:36 AM EST

The Cleveland Browns are once again cleaning house as they have fired their head coach Mike Pettine as well as their general manager Ray Farmer. It seems as if everyone involved in the Johnny Manziel fiasco is looking at the door including Manziel.

Pettine however went 10-22 in his two years as the Browns head coach as the team greatly underachieved.  The Browns may release the embattled quarterback after failing to meet expectations. Manziel has had a big problem staying out of trouble and out of the news as he has repeatedly been seen partying and drinking. Manziel's issues likely stem from his age and his inexperience as a NFL superstar however that is not an excuse for a pattern of poor decision making.

The Browns will begin to interview head coaching candidates however it is likely one of the least desirable positions available this offseason. The Browns will also need a new general manager which should impact all of their future draft plans and the team's makeup in the future.

The Browns brass has to now realize that the process of rebuilding a franchise is a long term process that requires patience. It is likely that whomever they choose to make their new head coach will likely be the Browns coach for years to come and will have a pivotal role in the rebuilding process.
