The Green Bay Packers ended the 2015 season with two straight losses meaning they will begin the playoffs on the road as they head to Washington to play the Redskins. The offense has been a big issue for the Packers recently as the team simply does not seem to be able to put everything together. With a postseason now in full swing, the Packers no longer control the NFC, but Aaron Rodgers is confident that things can change against the Redskins.
The Packers have simply not been able to get over the injury to Jordy Nelson this year. While the receiver's absence cannot be completely to blame for the struggles of the offense this year, it has played a big part especially with other guys like Randall Cobb and Davante Adams. James Jones has been inconsistent while the absence of Andrew Quarless put too much pressure on Richard Rodgers. Regardless of how bad the offense has looked recently, Rodgers made it clear they need to put it behind them and figure it out.
We've just got to find a way to put it all together," Rodgers said, via ESPN.com. "It's been frustrating at times to not do that consistently enough in games. Today, we had one decent quarter of football. That's less than the two we've kind of been averaging the last six or seven games. We've got to figure out the root of that and fix it quickly. We're 16 games in, so you kind of are who you are, but we've got to find a way to put it all together for four quarters."
For the Packers to find success, Eddie Lacy must get moving early. Statistically speaking, the Packers offense is much more efficient when Lacy is able to take pressure off of Rodgers and open the playbook more. The running back has not had the most ideal season this year, but he can turn everything around by playing well in the playoffs. The same can be said for James Starks. Rodgers has made it clear that he believes in Lacy understanding the offense could go through him in the Wild Card game.
"I think Eddie (Lacy) is a great football player and he cares about it," Rodgers said, via NFL.com. "Every now and then, we need to hold each other accountable and he did a good job of stepping up and taking ownership of that where he misstepped. We all make mistakes. My message last week was that he's our guy. We need him. We need him to compete for us and play well and we need him in these winter months as we're trying to make a run."
The Packers are going up against a motivated defense in the Redskins. This could come down to which defensive unit is capable of weathering the storm more. Green Bay's offense continues to have the same issues it has had all year, but Rodgers' confidence could get them by.
