Dallas Cowboys Rumors and News: Dez Bryant Has Surgery On His Foot and Ankle, Will He Be Ready For 2016 Offseason Program?

Jan 06, 2016 04:32 PM EST

The Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver Dez Bryant underwent foot and ankle surgery today in New York. Bryant suffered his foot injury in the season opener and missed a large portion of the regular season which all but killed the Cowboys offensive firepower.

The surgery to Bryant's ankle will take place to remove spur and it is likely that both procedures will happen at the same time. Bryant is not expected to miss any of the Cowboys offseason workouts however they could be cautious with his workload. Bryant suffered a Jones fracture which is one of the more difficult foot injuries to deal with.

Julio Jones suffered the same injury and warned Bryant not to come back to soon. He would return for the Cowboys November 1st contest against the Seattle Seahawks but what looked to be in a limited capacity. The Cowboys shut Bryant down for the final two games of the season when the playoffs were out of reach.

For the Cowboys to be successful they will need Dez Bryant to be 100 percent healthy as he is the biggest playmaker on the roster. In addition to Bryant they will need to keep Romo fully healthy as well or at least find a more serviceable backup.
