Seattle Seahawks Rumors: Team Losing Key Players In Free Agency? Jeremy Lane, Russell Okung, Jermaine Kearse Returning?

The Seattle Seahawks are reeling from a devastating loss in the divisional rounds of the NFL playoffs. Over the next few months the team will begin to figure out whether or not they will retain the services of their key defensive free agents.

Players on that list include cornerback Jeremy Lane who has helped return this secondary to upper echelon status, Bruce Irvin who is a dangerously fast linebacker with exceptional coverage skills, and Brandon Mebane who has been critical to stopping opposing running backs. The Seahawks may also lose two key offensive role players in Russell Okung and Jermaine Kearse.

Kearse was extremely important in the divisional game between the Carolina Panthers where he recorded 11 receptions, 110 receiving yards, and 2 touchdowns. Kearse has been a key role player in his entire time with Seattle as he still remains one of Russell Wilson's most trusted targets.

Okung on the other hand is a vital pass blocker who the Seahawks cannot afford to lose after trading away Max Unger to the New Orleans Saints. Of course there are players in free agency the Seahawks can add and they have a substantial amount of cap space to fill their needs, but resigning several core members of their roster just might not be in their offseason plans.
