Panthers vs. Eagles Predictions: Monday Night Football Favors Cam Newton & Co.

Nov 26, 2012 02:39 PM EST

The 3-7  Philadelphia Eagles host the 2-8 Carolina Panthers for Week 12's Monday Night Football matchup.

I'm pretty sure when the NFL Monday Night Football schedules were created everyone thought this game would have some type of significance as the season was turning the corner and reaching its end.

However, as the records show, none of these teams are playoff contenders anymore. They are simply trying to salvage the little respect that's left over as they are trying to figure out their future.

For the Panthers, it's been a tough season for the 2011-2012 rookie sensation Cam Newton. The plays called simply didn't suit the quarterback anymore as the NFL figured him out.

For the Eagles, well first of all, do you remember where you were and what you were doing the last time they won a game?

Now they rely on their rookie Nick Foles to get them through games as he is under center following Michael Vick's.

This is probably one of the toughest predictions to make being that both teams have similar stats. The Eagles have the stars, but these are the same stars that have been unable to get it together all season long.

LeSean McCoy is out so the Eagles won't have a running game tonight meaning they will rely heavily on Foles. Meanwhile, the Panthers come into this matchup fairly healthy as only their defensive end Antwan Applewhite is expected to be out.

Predictions: Look for Cam Newton to rise to the occasion. His Panthers have eight losses this season, but six of these eight losses have been by seven points or less, meaning one turnover less or a completed third down would have made the difference. The Eagles don't know what winning is anymore.

Final score: Panthers 27-17 Eagles
