Chelsea vs Fulham: Preview, Team News, Injuries, Predictions and Expected Lineups

Rafa Benitez can prepare himself for another frosty reception - from his own fans - when Chelsea look to get their English Premier League campaign back on track against West London rivals Fulham.

Chelsea are winless in five Premier League games, having picked up just three points, which has in turn turned them from league leaders to five points behind first-placed Manchester United.

Chelsea currently find themselves in fourth place, behind West Brom in the Premier League table, although credit for that must go to the Baggies for keeping up their brilliant run, under former Chelsea favorite Steve Clarke.

Benitez, who was named the interim manager until the end of the season following the firing of fan favorite Roberto Di Matteo, said he did not pay much attention to the abuse meted out to him during Chelsea's dull 0-0 draw with City.

However, as much as the Spaniard would like everyone to believe it did not have an effect, it is just not possible in the modern game to compete for the league title, under so much duress.

Benitez will want the Chelsea faithful on his side as soon as possible, and the journey towards the acceptance can start with a dominating performance against a Fulham side, who like Chelsea are winless in five games, having lost their last two.

The only positive to take out of the City game was the defensive solidity shown by the team, which was lacking under Di Matteo this season.

"It's important to keep clean sheets," Cesar Azpilicueta told the club's official website. "As a minimum you have one point, and offensively we have good players so we will have good chances but the first thing is to defend together, play well defensively and after to do a good job offensively.

That is the motto of Benitez: defensive solidity first, and then build the attacks from there and see where it takes you.

"The problem we had before was that we conceded a lot of goals, a lot of chances, so this is the first thing to resolve and now to adapt Rafa's methods and stay together, and be focused in our work," the Spanish rightback added.

"He has a different method to work so we have worked a lot in the last days with him, defensively, to know how he wants to play. It's important that we kept a clean sheet and stayed together, played as a team."

Fulham, on the other hand, are at their best going forward, but have leaked as many goals as they have scored this season. If they are to get a positive result and break their two-match losing streak, much will depend on Dimitar Berbatov. On his day, the Bulgarian can carve open any defense, and Fulham will need every inch of the former Manchester United striker's creativity to unlock the Chelsea door.

Chelsea forward Daniel Sturridge remains a doubt after missing the last two games, while Frank Lampard and John Terry are ruled out.

Fulham will be without Alex Kacaniklic, Bryan Ruiz and the suspended Brede Hangeland.

With the attacking talent at Benitez's disposal, it is hard to imagine Chelsea not creating enough chances to score, and coupled with their defensive improvements, which is bound to happen under the Spaniard, Chelsea will improve their results, although it might not be the pretty attacking style that Roman Abramovich so yearns - he will have to wait until Pep Guardiola gives the go-ahead for that.

For now, Chelsea and their fans can hope for a more organized team, that will also bring out the best in Fernando Torres, or at least that is what everyone involved with the club, and Abramovich in particular will be hoping.

Expected lineups: Chelsea: Cech; Azpilcueta, Luiz, Ivanovic, Cole; Mikel, Ramires; Mata, Oscar, Hazard; Torres.

Fulham: Schwarzer; Riether, Hughes, Senderos, Riise; Baird, Sidwell; Duff, Dejagah, Berbatov; Petric.

Prediction: 1-0 to Chelsea
