Baltimore Ravens News: Will Joe Flacco Restructure His Contract?

Jan 22, 2016 04:06 PM EST

The Baltimore Ravens are expected to have very little wiggle room in terms of cap space.

They are projected to have just around 4-5 million in cap space for 2016 and are hoping to work out several restructures to help the Ravens pick up more talent and fill more holes in free agency. Joe Flacco accounts for most of the Ravens cap issues as his cap hit is currently $28,550,000. For a quarterback coming off of an ACL tear whose team is picking in the top 10 of the 2016 NFL draft the Ravens are paying entirely too much money for Joe Flacco.

The Ravens have too many holes in important positions on the roster to be giving so much money to Flacco. The Ravens found themselves in an even more precarious position last year as they suffered major injuries to just about every starter on their roster.

Not to mention the injuries to first round pick Breshad Perriman who was originally supposed to be Flacco's main target heading into the 2015 season. Flacco freeing up some cap space would allow the Ravens to start retooling both the offense and defense to create a more competitive team.
