The NBA injury report has updates for Blake Griffin, Kobe Bryant, Hassan Whiteside, Dwight Howard, Brandon Knight, Rudy Gay, Bradley Beal and Derrick Rose heading into the Wednesday schedule.
Blake Griffin already was sidelined with a calf injury for the Clippers and now the forward will be out for a stretch after breaking his hand. According to ESPN.com, Griffin got into an altercation with a team staffer and punched the member of the equipment staff, which resulted in a broken hand. Griffin could be suspended eventually for the incident and he will now be out for at least 4-6 weeks while recovering from the injury.
Kobe Bryant has been dealing with some shoulder soreness for the Lakers and that kept the guard out of the lineup on Tuesday. Bryant is considered "day-to-day," according to the Los Angeles Times and he likely will be a game time decision for the matchup with the Chicago Bulls on Thursday. Anthony Brown could slot into the starting lineup if Bryant is out on Thursday.
Hassan Whiteside has been dealing with a hip injury and there is a chance he could be back in the lineup for Miami on Friday against the Bucks. Whiteside has missed three straight games after sitting out on Tuesday, but the Palm Beach Post reports that Whiteside had a "good workout" and reports that head coach Erik Spoelstra said that "hopefully right around the corner."
Dwight Howard is ready to return for the Rockets after dealing with an ankle injury, as the big man will play on Wednesday night against the Spurs, according to ESPN. Rockets coach J.B. Bickerstaff said the team will monitor Howard to make sure he doesn't re-aggravate the injury. Howard is averaging 14.4 points and 12.1 rebounds and is coming back after missing three straight games.
Rudy Gay is looking to play for the Kings on their upcoming road trip after dealing with an eye injury. Gay missed the game on Tuesday for Sacramento and could try to return on Thursday against the Pelicans. Derrick Favors returned from a 16-game absence while dealing with a back injury and he was not listed on the injury report for Wednesday.
Brandon Knight is dealing with a groin injury and will be out for at least the next four games for the Suns. Bradley Beal suffered a broken nose and a concussion for the Wizards and was out on Tuesday. Beal may try and return Thursday against the Nuggets and likely will be wearing a protective mask. Rose is dealing with hamstring and back injuries and is questionable to play against the Lakers on Thursday.
