Green Bay Packers Rumors and News: Team Wants Eddie Lacy To Lose 30 Pounds For Next Season?

Feb 01, 2016 01:28 PM EST

It appears as if the Green Bay Packers have lost patience with Eddie Lacy in regards to his offseason conditioning.

Last season Lacy entered camp overweight and the Packers played it off as not really a concern of theirs, however it turned out to change the way this offense ran. Sure the Packers offensive line were battling injuries and poor performances all season long but Lacy being a bit out of shape definitely did not help. Lacy has already received an offer from fitness program P90X to help him get back into shape but Lacy could also attend a special camp to help make sure he loses the weight.

At only 25 Lacy has a ton of time left to be a productive running back in this league however his season stats dropped dramatically in 2015. Lacy recorded 758 rushing yards, 3 touchdowns, 20 receptions, averaged 4.1 yards per carry, and only played in 12 games this season. In 2014, arguably Lacy's best season he played in all 16 games and recorded 1,139 rushing yards, 9 touchdowns, 42 receptions, and averaged 4.6 yards per carry.

2016 will be the last season Lacy is under contract with the Packers so he will need to show he can be the dominant and productive back they had drafted. If the Packers are going to feel comfortable with Lacy being the main back he will have to show that he is in shape and ready to work.
