Antonio Gates has been a star with the Chargers franchise for a very long time.
His contract will finally run out as free agency approaches and the 35 year old will have a lot of big decisions to make. Gates may be a bit over the hill but it does not make him a bad target for either an emerging quarterback or for a veteran title contender.
It is being reported that Gates wanted to know just how the Chargers would manage this team heading into 2016. It appears as if Gates is truly just wondering if the Chargers are planning on winning anytime soon.
The Chargers have been letting go of their veteran talent as they watched Eric Weddle walk out of the door without as much as a goodbye.
Gates could do some damage and see his production actually mean something if he signed to a team like the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, or Arizona Cardinals. Wherever Gates goes he will need to have enough of a role to where he can make a difference in goal line situations but the team has other options offensively.
Gates had an excellent season however it was clear that by the end of it, the Chargers only weapon was Gates and this must be concerning to the future hall of famer.
