Reading vs Manchester United: Preview, Team News, Injuries, Predictions and Expected Lineups

Manchester United this season do not deal with draws. They are the only team who are yet to draw a single game after 14 matches of the English Premier League.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side have won 11 of those, plenty of them coming from behind, which has seen them catapulted to the top of the table, one point ahead of the defending champions Manchester City.

When they travel to newly-promoted Reading, who are second bottom on nine points, United will be fully expected to add their 12th win of the season in the victory column - an out of the blue win for Reading or a draw seeing how the season has panned out, looks unlikely to say the least.

United eked out a 1-0 win over West Ham in midweek, thanks to a first-minute goal from Robin Van Persie. The win was more important, because the Old Trafford side finally kept a clean sheet in the Premier League, after leaking too many goals this season.

Ferguson was all praise for Rafael, who has gone from strength to strength and has arguably been the Premier League's best right-back this year.

"Rafael is maturing. He's 22 years of age but came here as a young kid and was in the first-team at 18," Ferguson told the club's official website. "He made rash mistakes because he's such an enthusiastic boy but he's maturing and is learning from that."

Reading, who lost 1-0 to Aston Villa on Tuesday, have only beaten United once in their entire history - that too 80 years ago. So Reading manager Brian McDermott will be mindful of creating some history when his players walk out to the Madejski Stadium against their more illustrious opponents.

Reading forward Adam Le Fondre, in particular, will find the game against United special. "When the fixtures came out I looked at when they were playing us and the return fixture at Old Trafford and obviously I was really looking forward to this game," said Le Fondre, who was a boyhood United fan.

"It's going to be a great occasion for me personally and my family aswell.

"My dad used to go a lot and he took me and my brother there when we were younger."

"Manchester United were the first game I went to and my dad harps on about when he used to go all the time back in the 70s and 80s.

"The memories he has passed down to us are why we're all 'Reds' now."

United will have the luxury of knowing the results of their title rivals, with the likes of City and Chelsea set to play earlier on; knowing they need a win to retain their top spot, if City beat Everton, might just put that little bit of extra pressure on them, or at least that is what Reading will be hoping.

Ferguson's teams, however, thrive on pressure situations and the second bottom club might just be in for a rough evening on Saturday in front of their own fans.

Team News: Nani will  miss out through injury, with Antonio Valencia expected to return next week after missing the previous gameShinji Kagawa, though, is still a couple of weeks away from a return, with captain Nemanja Vidic returning to training, and a possibility to play a part in Europe next week.

Alex McCarthy and Jem Karacan are expected to miss the game against United, but Jimmy Kebe could make the squad after resuming training. Danny Guthrie is also available after recovering from a thigh complaint.

Expected lineups: Reading: Federici; Cummings, Morrison, Mariappa, Shorey; Leigertwood, Tabb, Robson-Kanu, McAnuff; Roberts, Le Fondre.

Man United: Lindegaard; Rafael, Evans, Ferdinand, Evra; Carrick, Anderson, Young, Welbeck; Rooney, Van Persie.

Prediction: 3-0 to United
