NBA Injury Updates and News: Blake Griffin Out 2 Months? Kevin Durant Knee, Jose Calderon, Carmelo Anthony, Kobe Bryant, Hassan Whiteside Returns

The NBA injury report heading into Thursday night has updates for Blake Griffin Kevin Durant, Jose Calderon, Carmelo Anthony, Kobe Bryant and Hassan Whiteside.

Blake Griffin remains out after getting into an altercation with a team staffer last month. Griffin is suffering from a broken hand and reports have the big man out for at least six weeks and potentially more. ESPN reports that the original timeline for Griffin was between 4-6 weeks, but there is a chance that Griffin could be out for longer than that for the Clippers. Griffin also has not yet been disciplined for the incident.

Kevin Durant wore a knee brace earlier in the week while dealing with some discomfort, but Durant has ditched the brace and is not dealing with a serious injury. Durant was able to get through practice earlier in the week without dealing with any issues. Kobe Bryant is dealing with shoulder soreness, but the guard will play against the Pelicans on Thursday night. Bryant had a strong game on Tuesday with 38 points despite the shoulder issue.

Jose Calderon has been dealing with a groin injury, but he is expected to play for the Knicks on Thursday night. Calderon was out on Tuesday and Sunday for the Knicks, but he will return against the Pistons. Carmelo Anthony has been dealing with some knee soreness, but he has been playing through it. Anthony had a double-double in his last game and he said that he likely will continue to deal with knee soreness through the season.

Hassan Whiteside returned after missing a bunch of games for the Heat and he played 17 minutes in the game on Wednesday. Whiteside has been dealing with knee and oblique injuries this season and he said that he felt fine after the game against the Mavericks on Wednesday.
