The New England Patriots struggled to find consistency in their passing game this season as their offense saw plenty of injuries.
Technically Rob Gronkowski is their number 1 target but beyond him the Patriots have seen very little. Sure the duo of Amendola and Edelman when healthy are very productive, but that's just it, they both cannot seem to stay healthy. Without a pick in the first round of the first round of the 2016 NFL draft the Patriots will likely have to wait until the second round to draft any player that fills a need.
It is possible that Laquon Treadwell or Josh Doctson fall to the second, if that happens the Patriots would have found their new wide receiver.
This is why it may be easier for the Patriots to just pick up a wide receiver in free agency. The Patriots currently have $7 million in cap space so is viable that the Patriots pursue Anquan Boldin, Jermaine Kearse, Mohammed Sanu, Marvin Jones, James Jones, and Rishard Matthews.
The Patriots were limited by having too many unproductive wide receivers now they have a chance to make it right. The cheapest options here would most likely be James Jones, or current/former Bronco Jordan Norwood.
