With LeGarrette Blount a free agent and also about to hit 30 the New England Patriots would have nothing to lose by exploring the idea of signing Matt Forte.
Forte has been much more productive than Blount and does not look to be slowing down. Blount suffered several injuries this season that kept him from playing at 100 percent. Adding Forte to this already dynamic offense will give Tom Brady the best possible chance at winning. The other dominant running back in this backfield Dion Lewis is rehabbing from a torn ACL which is an incredibly long and arduous process.
It would be surprising to see the Patriots not grab a free agent running back or a running back in the draft to help keep the rotation fresh. The only problem with Forte is that he could end up costing the Patriots a lot more than they would be willing to pay for his services, but honestly at this point in his career Forte should be focused on one thing and that's winning a Super Bowl.
There will be a ton of teams ready to pay top dollar for Forte's services however it is questionable how many contenders are willing to do the same. Forte should accept a pay cut and catch on with the Patriots, Packers, or Cowboys.
